Description

Vistamar Reserva Malbec, Chile

This wine is the very deep red of black cherries, with highlights of violet. It has highly expressive aromas of ripe fruit, blackberries, fresh black and white cherries and blueberries, all perfectly blended with elegant notes of vanilla. It is complex in the mouth, fruity and medium-bodied. Notes of mocha and vanilla also appear as a result of its ageing in oak casks.  Grape varieties used – 87% Malbec, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon, grown in the Maule region of Chile.  Food matching suggestions:  Red meat in general & barbecue, Pastas with Tomato sauces, Lamb with Potatoes cooked with Rosemary  ABV:13.5% Vegetarian & Vegan.  Cork opening

 

Burlesque Red Zinfandel, California

A great value, fun wine from the sunshine state, California. It is soft & juicy with lovely Plum & Damson flavours & a rich & gentle finish.  The grapes are selected from old vine Zinfandel vineyards in the Lodi region of central California.  Aromas of Vanilla, cracked Black Pepper and dark Damson fruit. On the palate this wine is round and fleshy, beautifully balanced and packed full with robust red fruit flavours and a lick of oak.  It’s just plain yummy! Deen De Bortoli VAT 1 Durif, Riverina region, Australia

Aromas of blueberry and liquorice, with hints of chocolate and savoury oak. Rich and flavoursome with dark fruits, liquorice and spice and typical firm framing tannins, and carefully integrated oak.  Food match suggestions – Slow cooked Lamb shanks or a Pasta with Roast vegetable Ragu. ABV 14%.  Opening; Screwtop.  Grapes Durif 88% ; Shiraz 10% ; Viognier 2%

 

 

 

Quatro Ventos Douro, Alianca Vinhos de Portugal

Powerful red made from hand-picked Grapes from the fabled terraced vineyards of Quinta dos Quatro Ventos, in the Douro Valley.   Ripe Plum, Blackberry compote,  hints of Liquorice & warm spice on the nose, whilst the palate offers dark plum, pepper and spice, & ripe rounded tannins.  Food matching suggestions: Lamb, rich meat or vegetable lasagne,  platter of firm mature Cheeses.  Grapes varieties Tinta Roriz 40%, Touriga Franca 30%, Tinta Barocca 30%  Vegetarian , Vegan.  Opening –  Cork,  ABV 14%

 

 

Borgia Garnacha, Spain

Campo de Borja is considered the ‘Empire of Garnacha’ – the most prevalent grape in the region, which just thrives here. Borsao have years of experience crafting ripe and appealing wines such as this, from this variety.   Bright pPum and Berry fruit aromas. The palate is rich and welcoming with ripe Cassis and Bramble characters and soft, approachable tannins on the finish.  Food match suggestions – slow-cooked Belly Pork, or perhaps Chorizo with Chickpeas.  ABV 13.5% Vegetarian 100% Garnacha Grapes

 

 

Percheron  Shiraz/Mourvedre, South African

Southern Rhône style Red from Swartland, Western Cape.   Co-fermented Shiraz and Viognier do their thing whilst waiting for the later Mourvèdre to create this threesome. The sandy nose suggests summer pudding, Chinese 5 spice and crushed Raspberries with a latent creaminess. Red fruit on the palate which is at once vibrant and dark.  A great partner to rich and savoury red Meat dishes such as salt-marsh lamb, or a gutsy Bean casserole.  Grape varieties – Shiraz 70% , Mourvèdre 27% , Viognier 3% ABV 14% Screwcap
